Media Evaluation and Media Analysis

in Modern Diplomatic Practice
and Public Diplomacy

Ongoing in 2025
(since February 2024)

This set of seminars focuses on capabilities that are indispensable for effective communication with foreign governments and publics.

With the assistance of seasoned professionals from the realm of media, the Kyiv School of Diplomatic Arts provides practice-oriented instruction on methods of working with international media — particularly in relation to:

1) promoting the messages of one’s government or civil society, and

2) countering malign flows of disinformation.

The seminar program
“Media Literacy at the International Level”
comprises the following
three Modules:

1. Media Evaluation

in Governmental and Public Diplomacy:

Research into the coverage, targeted audiences, and political affiliations
of key media actors in countries
of special interest.

2. Media Analysis

in Governmental and Public Diplomacy:

Assessment of how one’s country or society
is represented in foreign media,
including the measurement of
disinformation levels.

Media Advice to Your Ambassador:

A simulation game in which participants
— acting as embassy attachés or interns —
design an information campaign in a selected country
using tools of media evaluation
and media analysis.

  1. Students and staff of universities participating in the activities of KSDA’s international network;
